Intel Internal Contest Spills beans on new MacBook Pro Upgrades

The Ix series has started to show itself in the desktop versions of the Mac, but has yet to show itself in the portables. In a sales promotion for Intel retailers, they are offering a free I5 MacBook Pro to the winners of the contest.

This offer is for Intel Retail Edge Program, and is a sales incentive program, and was received by people in several different countries.

The I5 series is a quad core processor built on the 32nm die process. It is a reasonable assumption that these new I5 MacBooks will be announced at the upcoming Jan 27th media event that has the press in a frenzy about the possible iTablet/iSlate/iCantWaitForItToBeAnnouncedSoThatItWillJustEnd.

Now that Apple doesn't participate in MacWorld San Francisco, this is their winter event. Historically, this is also when they announce their big laptop changes for the year.
